Hoist and Slings – Hoist Training

Safe lifting and moving of service users is an essential part of care work. If it is not done properly it may lead to pain, discomfort, disability as well as accidents. Therefore, it is the duty of all employees involved in manual handling tasks to take all necessary precautions to ensure these procedures are carried out safely according to the ‘Health and Safety at Work  Act 1974 , and (HSWA) Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR) (as amended 2002)21 Nov 2016′.  Hoist training provides knowledge and understanding of the procedures for moving and handling people using hoists.

Course content:

  • Health & Safety at Work                                                                                                    
  • Manual Handling Operations Regulations (MHOR)
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
  • Understanding hoist functions and maintenance.
  • Understanding the safe use of Slings
  • Operating mobile hoists  (we can supply this for the days training if needed)
  • Operating ceiling hoists  (if no ceiling hoist is fitted, this will be by video presentation only)
  • Hoisting from chair to bed
  • Hoisting from bed to chair
  • Safe moving of hoists with a service user
  • Storage and charging

Ideal for induction training as well as a refresher, in accordance with your company policy or local authority requirements, with full attendance and practical skills certificate provided.  You will also receive a company certificate as evidence of compliance.

The course duration will depend on the number of attendees.
